1)    Discuss the reason behind selecting the long-term goal and explain why the selected goal is the most important long-term goal in this category? (75 to 100 words) (1 mark).

When I was living in Panama, I was studying a bachelor's degree in Maritime Industries. I would like to get a specialization in something related to logistics, maritime business or similar because I think there are plenty opportunities in there to work professionally.

Starting a bachelor's degree in IBAT is just a step to where I see myself and where I want to be. Even though I know this degree will open doors for me and give me the chance to find a nice job in Ireland, I am more than open to opportunities as I have been saying something very important for me is finding stability in all aspects of my life.

2)    Explain why the interim goal is the most important first-step towards reaching the long-term goal? (75 to 100 words) (1 mark)

Right now, I think I have plenty of opportunities. Living in Ireland give me in an easy chance to move to other countries in the European Union. I have been looking already in other countries such as Germany, Spain, Portugal where salaries are not the best ones, but quality of life seems better than here. I would like to stay in Ireland, but realistically talking this is an expensive country and I would like to have things, a house primarily.

3)    Use the “Planning Tool - SMART-F goal checker” from Week 5 to verify that the INTERIM goal is using the SMART approach correctly (post the this in your e-portfolio. (1 mark)

From all my goals I think this one is the one that I would achieve the sooner. It is something that I have been looking information already and something that I really want to do. However the money could be a problem that’s why I am delaying it for a year after my bachelor's degree graduation.

1)    Discuss the reason behind selecting the long-term goal and explain why the selected goal is the most important long-term goal in this category? (75 to 100 words) (1 mark)

Having my own place is something that I have always wanted to. In my country, houses got super expensive and to have one you must share the mortgage with your partner. However, this is something that I want to do by myself a goal that I want to achieve because I could do it and no because someone else is helping me.

Housing crisis in Ireland is terrible but I trust that if I can stay here with my working visa and do the years to become a permanent resident, I can apply to buy a house in here. If not, I would buy it in Panama and having it as holidays home or rent it and having it as active producing money.

2)    Explain why the interim goal is the most important first-step towards reaching the long-term goal? (75 to 100 words) (1 mark)

Saving money for the down payment is for me the most important step to achieve this goal. I can start from now to do it with 100 euro per week, in the future this can change, it does not have to be a specific amount could be more, anything to get me closer to buy a house. If things are not possible in Ireland, I am already looking in Panama. Checking what they are offering now and what I need to do in case I buy in there.

3) Use the “Planning Tool - SMART-F goal checker” from Week 5 to verify that the INTERIM goal is using the SMART approach correctly (post the this in your e-portfolio. (1 mark)

Evaluate whether your PDP goals are SMART-F

In the column headed ‘interim goals’, list the interim goals (main outcomes) to undertake to achieve your overall goal or vision. These might be qualifications, experience, skills to acquire, etc. Consider whether each of these is specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, time-bound (with clear start and dates). Can it be flexed or adapted?  Write ‘yes’ or ‘no’ in the boxes as appropriate.
